The rumours of my death have been extremely exaggerated. Nope, I’m not gone yet. Sorry to ruin your day.
So what have I been up to? Well one of the things that has been taking up my time is softball. After playing on Memorial Day I realized how much I missed the diamond, and decided to play in a summer league on a team lead by some people from my church. Even though softball is basically the same as baseball, it’s still been a bit of an adjustment after having played baseball for 6 years. It’s slow-pitch, which may sound easy at first, but when you’re used to 80 mile-per-hour fastballs, like me, it can be a bit challenging at times to hit, and I’ve half had to re-learn how to hit in order to get the timing right. Also, with a ball that is twice as big, getting a good jump on those deep fly balls was tough at first. Still, I’m probably being a bit hard on myself; after all, it’s slo-pitch, and it’s a co-ed team, so it’s not exactly the peak of competitiveness. Even though it’s been pretty darn hot some nights, I’ve had a blast–it’s great to be back on the diamond. We haven’t won a game yet, but as they say: “It’s not if you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.”
Why am I even posting this anyway? It’s not like anyone actually reads this silly blog anyway, right? Hello? Is anyone listening? *sigh*
I read it today! cause you put it in #poweruser - so it’s not totally unread! Good luck on the softball. Nice to see someone keeping it in perspective.
I read it today
Heh, no wins. That sounds like my work’s co-ed team that I played for. Unfortunately, last season I dove for a ball and ended up straining my rotator cuff, which put me out of the season. I’ve gotta play next season no matter the cost!
